-Olivia and I were actually listening to my music for
once! and Bad Company, playing the song Bad Company
was on. She asked me, Mommy? Are they singing about
Bread Company? How's this for the song lyrics?
"Bread, Bread Company....till the day I die..." Sounds
good to me. Why yes honey, they are! I dare you to
sing it.....
-Jake really enjoyed doing his first grade musical where
he had a speaking part and the entire first grade (all 5
classes) sang multiple songs and all the kids worked
really hard on it. He asked when he could do another
one, so I signed him up for an after school class that
you pay for, but is still at his school. The kids in the
class will be performing a musical call "Grade School
Musical". But get this. He is the ONLY boy in the entire
class! Thankfully he is fine with it since he has
(girl)friends in the class and was excited to show us his
first dance that he learned. It should be interesting to
see what they do with him...I imagine he will be front
and center! :)
-After two summers of coercion, bribes, many tears,
arguments, pouting, silent treatments, and flat out
disregard for what each other thought was the best
way to handle it, it is over.......until next time.
I'm so random.

And now I'm going to be singing "Bread Company" all day :)
Way to go!
I'm still coercing and bribing my 5 y/o. Maybe he'll ride one when he gets in middle school.
Yeah! Can I send you my kids now?
Thanks for the ear worm! Now I've got "Bread Company.." stuck in my head!
Guess that's better than that horrid "Give me back my Fillet o Fish" jingle.
Is that him learning how to ride a bike? WTG!
I love the "Bread Company" remake. In High School, a friend of mine rewrote the lyrics of "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd to be "Comfortably Dumb." He meanly wrote it about another kid in school, and I used to have the full lyrics written down somewhere. It was mean-spirited, but brilliantly hillarious.
However, I couldn't listen to the actual song for YEARS without hearing "Comfortably Dumb" in my head.
If Jake keeps up the interest in musicals, we do a couple a year and depending on the show, have lots of kids starting at age 7 or 8, with some exceptions made for younger. It's a BLAST. Our show from last fall was nominated for 12 Arts for Life awards, so the quality is pretty high.
You could start a business, training stubborn kids to ride their bikes. Sign me up! My 5 y/o still refuses to even CONSIDER taking off the training wheels...
He's a genius! Hanging out with all those girls is brilliant, I tell you! He'll have more girlfriends that he can count.
Yay for the bike riding!
Good for Jake for doing "Grade School Musical". I'm betting he will be front and center as male star of the show (by default, but cool nonetheless). Congrats to him on the bike thing. We haven't even attempted that yet.
Also, thanks Courtney for getting that "filet of fish" jingle stuck in my head!
Looks like you have a multitalented kid on your hands. I love that he's loving performing; he'll have so much fun. Loved the Bread Company fragment. I already have my favorite this week, but I've decided to save yours for another time, rather than picking just one per week. That's a classic! (the song and the comment)
I'm so happy he's wearing a helmet!!! Back home it's actually the law!! You can get a ticket if you're not wearing one!
Good job on the bike! G is a little bit of a freak and was doing it at age 3.
How cute! Panera should use that as their theme song.
I love that he's going to be in a musical! Can't wait to see that video. =)
awwww bread company I love that!!!
GREAT friday fragments...I couldnt get the video to play my pc is having issues with vids....
Absolutely brilliant that he is so interested in 'performing' in some way. It's easy to hook kids into it when they are little and if they continue on with it, they usually don't go through that horrible 'shy' stage when they hate having their pic taken, won't speak up to adults they introduced to, and act like they are going to DIE when they have to perform for a school concert, etc. Hopefully, since he is throwing himself into it now, you won't go through any of that later with Jake!
YAY for bike riding! It is one of the few things our kids miss about living in VA - the sidewalks to ride bikes around the block. Our dirt road is 2 1/2 miles darn near straight down - which means pushing the bike 2 1/2 miles back UP - so they don't ride here except back and forth in front of our house now & then.
