Jake is about to enter a new phase in his life. A goofy, holey, toothless phase. Yep, Jake has his first loose tooth!! Dave and I were so excited for him, but what was Jake's initial reaction to the realization that he had his first loose tooth?
Did he:
A) Totally freak out and cry for half an hour.
B) Suggest that the tooth fairy leave 50 bucks so he could buy Mario Cart for the Wii.
C) Show Olivia what a real loose tooth looks like.
D) Want to call his friends from the old 'hood and let them know that the tooth fairy was coming to visit soon.
How did YOUR children react to their first loose tooth?
And you thought your co-workers had nasty habits...

Congratulations on the first loose tooth! I don't have any experiences to share yet.
Jessica thought it was cool, because some of her friends had already lost teeth, and she felt left out. Her dad gave her $5 for the first one, because he didn't have anything smaller. I told him he set the bar too high and she'd never let us forget it. She was highly disappointed in her subsequent payments.
Kelli would never let me pull hers - even if it was hanging by a mere thread. I did forget one time to leave her money, so I told her a detailed story about the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny going out to dinner and it ran late and the Tooth Fairy felt very bad about forgetting her so she came by and left her this money (which I pulled from my wallet). Kelli rolled her eyes, told me that I had been out to dinner too late, and took the money. We still laughed about it years later.
Maddy loves losing teeth. She has another one loose now. She doesn't believe in the tooth fairy anymore but she does believe in the cash.
Let me just say that I'm glad that my girl is done losing all of her baby teeth. The dramatics and the bad breath because she waited so long to pull the dang teeth were all a bit too much for me. Now we enter the phase of braces.
I'm going to guess $50 to buy the video game. :-)
I'm going with the $50, as well.
My big kid let that sucker loosen on its own for about a month. That thing was barely hanging on when I just took matters into my own hands-- not too badly, though. He would allow me to wiggle the tooth each night before bed with a tissue, and I KNEW that it would probably just fall out while he slept if we let it go any further. So, I wiggled it with a tiny bit more oomph that night and when he started to protest that I had done it too long, I responded by saying, "Guess what." Then I showed him the tissue and he was shocked to see his tooth in it. He's lost 3 more since, and each time has been similar!
My kids are usually very excited about losing teeth, but I think it's mostly about the tooth fairy money. Good luck with "Toothless Jake"!
freak and cry? oh wait, that will be my boy ☺ I am going with 50 bucks
So exciting! I am thinking he did all of the above.
My eldest was the last kid in his grade to start losing teeth and the first 2 he lost at school and ended up swallowing. He was so very sad, he thought the tooth fairy wouldn't come.
My kids all lost their teeth later than most kids do. So, by the time they got their first loose tooth, they were SO excited because they'd seen their friends getting all the attention from losing teeth.
The Princess has not yet lost a tooth, but she's constantly telling me her teeth are loose. "Feel this one, mama!" I kind of humor her. ;o)
OH! And my guess is, he wanted to call his friends from the old 'hood.
P.S. There's a little sumthin'-sumthin' for ya on my blog. ;o)
Hmmm. Knowing his love for the Wii - I'd say that one.
That's very exciting news when you're a little boy. Seth shall be envious!
Yeah, my child asked for some serious coin from the tooth fairy and then pitched a fit when it finally fell out because she didn't like the taste of blood. It was a disaster. But now she loves loosing teeth and still asks for some serious coin even though she knows that we are the toothfairy. She has wishful thinking.
Rylan was VERY excited to lose his first tooth. The toothfairy gave him $50.00 - and he was stoked!
However when he lost he second tooth, he was disappointed to find $1.00.
Rylan will play and wiggle with this teeth until they come right out. Good luck.
