Why oh why didn't you all warn me? I am so freaking exhausted and I didn't step out of my house all weekend after my brief stint out on Friday evening. I didn't even get out of my pj's yesterday.....
I woke up with a sore throat on Friday and started getting a stuffy nose by the afternoon. Hot tea and honey wasn't making me feel any better and I really wasn't feeling motivated to getting all gussied up and being social at the bloggers gathering so I totally bailed. (sorry ladies, I will be there next time!) My 14 year old cousin really wanted to babysit the kids, so Dave and headed out for a quick dinner. (Outback steak house, on a Friday night, during Lent, my husband is a bad, bad, Catholic!)
We took care of some household business during the morning, then when the kids were down for their nap, GAME ON. Dave and I played all afternoon. We had made a "deal" with Jake since we had friends coming over that evening, that he could play that evening, and then Sunday morning, but not Sunday evening (so it all equaled one day worth of playing). The kids had a blast and the grown-ups did too.
We have known this family for over five years, and the dad is pretty quiet, and honestly we still don't know that much about him. The mom is one of my best friends. We felt like we got to know more about him and his personality playing two hours of guitar hero with him than we have in the last five years. It was crazy! They left, we put the kids to bed and another couple came over and they stayed until midnight. Dave and I stayed up 'till 2:00 playing guitar hero, while Santana became my nemesis.
Rinse and Repeat on Sunday. I finally had to get a grip and get things back in order last night, after baths and bedtime, while I was working on our taxes and doing laundry, Dave was back at it. My question to you is, who's coming over next weekend??? The kids go down at 8:00..........
And you thought your co-workers had nasty habits...

Look at the boys playing Wii!!! So funny and adorable! They look so gosh darn HAPPY!
How fun! We asked for an X-Box 360 for Christmas and now I want a Wii!! Wah!
I was wondering what happened to you! Sorry you're sick :(
You were so worried about your son becoming obsessed and now you are! hee hee! glad you're having fun.
I LOVE the photos! Too cute. Look at them go!
I'll be over for sure!!!
Ha!! Chalk it up as good family fun. I spoke with Lance about getting a Wii, but I am afraid if we get one we may NEVER leave our house. My son already plays it at the caregivers after school, so he is addicted. He is 7 and has been singing 'slow ride, take it easy' - OMG. The photos were great.
Do I need to arrange an intervention for you T? LOL From the pics and your description, it sounds/looks like you all had a blast.
Sounds like your limits with the kids are working just fine. The grown-ups are another story altogether. I'm glad you all had fun. Get some rest now!
Wow-you have a group of blogger buddies in your area! How fun. Who are they? I'll live vicariously through you!
Hope you are feeling better!
As for coming over and playing Wii GH - no way! We got our son GHIII for PS2 for Christmas, and I've only tried it once, and was booed off the stage - it was funny though!
Isn't the Wii the best?? LOL I love it!!! Looks like the kiddos were really enjoying it! :)
Is that an invite to head north? We can leave the kids with G-daddy and stay up all night! I am not sure you can handle my mad bowling skills though...growing up in Raytown had it benefits according to Brad (I guess hanging out at the bowling alley paid off:)
